Today I share a picture of my son Alejandro as he is in the middle of a high kick to break two boards during his Tae Kwon Do advancement test. Enjoy!!! When breeding, Red-tailed Hawks are very territorial. They will chase away other Red-tailed Hawks and birds larger than themselves. Approaching a Red-tailed with nestlings is likely to result in an attack and possible serious injury. However, outside the breeding season, they are generally non-agressive toward people or other birds. They display an aggressive posture; holding the body and head upright while the feathers are standing erect. I think I got a little too close to this one and lucky for me it did not launch an attack. Enjoy!!! Ready to Attack! As the day comes to an end, just before saying goodbye it mesmerizes you and leaves everyone breathless. Enjoy!!! As The Day Comes to an EndA large, boldly patterned bird, the American Oystercatcher is conspicuous along ocean shores and salt marshes. True to its name, it is specialized in feeding on bivalves (oysters, clams, and mussels) and uses its brightly colored bill to get at them. Enjoy!!! American OystercatcherSome seven subspecies of the Caribbean Elaenia are recognized across the species’ scattered West Indies range, which principally is centered on the Lesser Antilles and Puerto Rico, but also encompasses islands of southeast Mexico, Belize, Honduras and Nicaragua, the Caymans, and the southern Netherlands Antilles. Everywhere, the Caribbean Elaenia is usually common, and is found in the canopy and borders of lowland evergreen forest, as well as in gardens, scrub, and mangroves. It usually forages in pairs, searching for both insects and fruit. The species’ most obvious plumage feature is the two broad pale wing bars; the underparts are largely pale, and the rest of the upperparts are brownish olive. Enjoy!!! Caribbean Elaenia |
