This shot was taken during spring break. I was walking around El Poblado de Boquerón with my camera when suddenly, a construction worker asked me if I would like to take pictures from the top of a building he was working on.--I couldn't say no, so I rushed to the top and fired away.

Here you can see the public beach, nice, don't you think??

When shooting I'm always trying to creatively arrange my elements in the picture. For this shot, I moved around a lot and used forced perspective to create the illusion that there is a size increment among the palm trees. What do you think??

Oyster stand located in the Poblado de Boquerón in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico.

Here you can have your oysters by the dozen, play dominoes, have a cold one (beer), enjoy the magnificent view and catch the cool breeze. What else can you ask for?

As you might have noticed, I stopped watermarking my images for quite sometime now.

The reasons are as follows:

-  Watermarks make your audience look at the watermark instead of your image. (I did this one a lot, I would look at thousands of watermarked images just to find a cool looking one so that I could design my own watermark!)

-  All my images are under a Creative Commons Licence so everyone can use, download and share them, as long as it is not for Commercial use and, they give credit and link the image back to www.josezayaspr.com.

-  If someone wants one of your images they're going to find a way to have it anyways.

-  It is part of the cost of doing business on the internet.

Do you watermark your images?? Let's hear it!

Another beautiful sunset

I'm a big fan of sunsets! This is a really cool one in the Boquerón area in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico. I always love to go there with the family to relax, catch the cool breeze, get away from the routine and of course, to capture beautiful sceneries like this one.

For this one I was really, really patient. First I was waiting for the perfect lighting and also I didn't want anyone to be in the frame. Well, it paid off as you can see, a beautiful sunset and if you look closer you can also see a small lens flare caused by shooting straight into the sun.

When taking pictures of land and seascapes it's always a good idea to arrive early, set up all your gear and wait for the perfect light. This is a must if you want to get a great shot instead of an ok shot.

For this picture, I was all set up with the camera on the tripod and a cable release to avoid any motion blur.

This next shot was taken at Hotel El Guajataca in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico. This small but beautiful hotel specializes in beach front weddings.

As you can see, the view is spectacular, with manicured lawns, splendid gardens and the majestic Atlantic Ocean in the background. All those elements combine for a picture perfect wedding ceremony.

Guajataca Tunnel is a railroad tunnel that connected the town of Isabela and Quebradillas, Puerto Rico. The tunnel is one of the most significant work of the remnants of the national railway system that connected the island during the first half of the twentieth century. In 2000, the Government of Puerto Rico declared it a historical monument.

For this shot, I got up around 6:15 in the morning; grabbed my camera and headed down the beach. I was staying at Hotel El Guajataca in beautiful Quebradillas, Puerto Rico. I had a feeling the sunrise was going to be spectacular. The water from the Atlantic Ocean was turkish blue and there was a slight mist from the water hitting the rocks.
