In Puerto Rico instead of celebrating a Sweet Sixteen party, girls celebrate a "Quinceañero" or Sweet Fifteen. As part of the ceremony the girls go to Church to receive a blessing. This shot captures that special moment. If you read my About Me Page, you know that I'm am from a small town in the southern part of Puerto Rico, called Santa Isabel. Well, my town could be small, but have tons of beautiful spots. For example, the pictures below was taken in the afternoon, around 5:30. As you can see the view is spectacular! Boat Ride anyone?Sunsets to me are one of the most beautiful times of the day. Sunsets, depending of the position of the sun in relation to the clouds, create some really spectacular colors. Sometimes you can get variations of orange, yellows and magentas. This particular photo was taken at La Villa Pesquera (Fishing Village) in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico. The Caribbean sea was really calm and the clouds created a really nice moody shot. Villa PesqueraPregnancy is one of the most beautiful stages for women. That's why I love being able to capture that special moment. “Before you were conceived I wanted you. Before you were born I loved you. Before you were here an hour I would die for you. This is the miracle of Mother's Love“ By Maureen Hawkins Waiting for you...For more pictures be sure to visit my Flickr set here.
This next shot took place in a music recording studio. I was called to take pictures of a recording artist as he was recording the voice for his next production. When I was done, and as I was walking out of the booth, I took a look at the control console and couldn't help to take one last photo. The song on the paper is titled "Paz sin Fronteras" which translates to "Peace without Frontiers" That song was part of a public campaign to create awareness about the violence in the society and to bring a positive message. It was a collaboration of three recording artists from Puerto Rico. The song was free to download for everyone as part of the outreach campaign. When one of the artists saw the picture, he asked me if they could use it as the official image to promote the song, I said yes! That was my little contribution to bring peace to Puerto Rico.
