When I went to shoot this drums session, the producers pretty much told me to get inside the booth with the drummer - so that way I could get the shot that I wanted. The space inside there was really packed with a lot of mics, cables and of course, the drums. The lighting scenario there was really challenging, due to the fact that, there were dimmed down. I wasn't able to fire my flashes because the drummer could've lost his concentration. So, I decided to shoot at very high ISOs to speed up the shutter of my camera. This shot captures the entire drums set up as well as the drummer getting ready to rock! A while ago I had the chance to go to a music recording studio to document the musical production of a Christian singer named Abraham Velazquez. During that time, I had the opportunity to photograph the drums and percussion sessions as well as the vocals. I didn't want to interrupt Abraham, so all the shots were candid. This particular photo I really like due to the emotion and triumph expressed by the singer as he finished one verse of the song. Man of FaithSometimes, before I take a picture I know before hand that it's going to be a B&W. Black and whites are really intriguing and interesting at the same time. Maybe is because we can see life in full color (unless you suffer from daltonism), that when we see something in B&W, we stop to look at it a little longer. Under the spotlightAs you know photography is a form of art, in which the photographer captures light. There are many rules in photography and one of them is to avoid harsh shadows in the subject's face. But I love to play with light and harsh shadows because, in my opinion, they make the picture more intriguing. I also like to get low in relation to the subject to create some perspective. By the beachSometimes I like to experiment and do trick photography. Levitation photos often call my attention due to the realistic effect they create. When I do this shots and post them online I always get the "How did you do that???" question. Enjoy! Falling or floating? |
