When visiting Ponce it is a must to visit el Parque Ecológico Urbano, located in the Miguel Pou Boulevard. The place is suitable for spending a good amount of time admiring the exquisite architecture and armory between nature and man made structures. So next time you visit Puerto Rico, swing by Ponce and have a good time. Enjoy!!! El Puente de los Leones – an elegant doorway bridge with two emblematic guarding lions sculpted by the eminent Spanish artist Víctor Ochoa. One is young, spirited and untamable; symbolizing hope and the rebirth of Ponce’s valuable heritage, proudly looking after a brighter future for the City. The other, mature and wise; representing the redemption of the old town splendor and all the contributing citizens of its first three centuries of history. Enjoy!!! The park was inaugurated on 19 September 2012. The park is unique in that it seeks to create a "green lung" in the city by using ecological mindset in its entirety, from the construction materials used, to the design, and other areas as well. Except for one tree that gets relocated within the project, the park makes use of all the existing trees and shrubs as they existed on the site prior to the development of the park. Enjoy!!! Below you can see my miniature version of La Guancha Boardwalk in Ponce, Puerto Rico. La Guancha in MiniatureThe La Guancha Boardwalk (Español: Paseo Tablado La Guancha) is a boardwalk in the La Guancha sector of the La Playa barrio in the city of Ponce, Puerto Rico, facing the Caribbean Sea and built under the administration of Rafael Cordero Santiago, Mayor of Ponce from 1989 to 2004. This is a perfect place to mingle with the locals (Ponceños) and to look out at the water and catch a cool breeze. There are also other things to do, like for example, feeding the pelicans and other birds around. For one dollar you can buy a bag of sardines and feed them to the birds. These activity has been done for years so the birds are used to the humans and they get really close to you in order to "catch" their free meal. Pelican at La Guancha Boardwalk |
