It's no secret that one of the most sought after tourist destinations in Puerto Rico is Old San Juan. That's why every time I get a chance, I go and take pictures again and again. It's almost imposible not to capture beautiful pictures anywhere in Old San Juan. Bellow you can see more "Garitas" or Sentry Boxes. As photographers we are always looking for that perfect angle, the one that is going to give us the unique shot. Part of our job requires to shoot at a mirror or throughout glass to get the capture we're looking for. When doing those shots, you have to be really careful not to get yourself in the frame. Sometimes, if you shoot at the right moment and angle you can capture more than a subjet in your picture. If you look closer at the picture bellow, you'll see the singer (Abraham Velazquez) happy because he finished recording the song, but also you can see the recording engineer (Marcos Sanchez) in the glass reflection. We're done!As you may already know, I'm a music enthusiast. Almost a year ago I met Mr. Marcos Sanchez, a music producer here in Puerto Rico. When I told him that I was into photography, he asked me if I wanted to take some pictures during a recording session. Of course! - I said. It turned out I went to several sessions to take pictures and in one of those, I happened to snap a candid picture of Marcos just talking and laughing. When I showed to him, he asked for permission to submit it to Korg (one of his sponsors) to be featured on their website. Well, here's the picture. You can read the entire article and learn about Marcos Sanchez here. Music Producer Mr. Marcos SanchezHere's the original pictureWhen I sit down with my clients we usually talk about the photo-shoot, the wardrobe, the location, time, investment, etc. They're not usually concerned if the photos are going to be in full color or black and whites -- except for Amy. When I photographed Amy, she was concerned about everything related to how her photos were gonna turn out. She, believe it or not, didn't want full colored pictures, instead she asked me if I could edit most of her shoot either in sepia or black and white. When I showed her the proofs, she asked for a more "golden" sepia approach. Bellow is one of her favorites shots. Peaceful lookAs you may know, i'm always looking for ways to put my work out there for everybody to see. One of the tools I use and recommend is Flickr. Flickr is a photographer's community that allows you to post your work and get critiques and comments from fellow photographers. Also, you can join and ever growing number of groups to narrow your audience. The website www.fotografia101.com is the largest community of photographers in Puerto Rico. They also have a group in Flickr and they let you to post photos for the members to comment on them. Every single day the select a picture from their Flickr group to be feature a the Picture of the Day on their website. On February 6, 2012, one of my pictures was featured as the Picture of the Day. So, once again, if you're into photography, don't be afraid and submit your work to all the different websites out there. Sooner or later you will start to see your work being published.
