SeascapeFajardo is a small city in Puerto Rico located in the east region of the island, bordering the Atlantic Ocean, north of Ceiba and east of Luquillo. Fajardo is spread over 7 wards and Downtown Fajardo, which serves as the administrative center of the city. Fajardo is the hub of the majority of recreational boating in Puerto Rico and a popular launching port to Culebra, Vieques, and the American and British Virgin Islands. It is also the home to the largest Marina in the Caribbean, called Puerto del Rey. The town contains various hotels and inns. Off shore, near Fajardo, a few islets can be found. These are Icacos, Palominos, Palominito, and Diablo, among other uninhabited coral islands. Also you can find Isleta Marina wich is a beautiful place in Fajardo. I really like this one due to the fact that you can see the change in color of the ocean. To the north of the San Juan bay you can see how blue the water is and to the south the water is greenish in color. San Juan Bay EntranceClick the image to view full size
The Capitol of Puerto Rico (Spanish: Capitolio de Puerto Rico) is located on the Islet of San Juan just outside the walls of Old San Juan. The building is home to the bicameral Legislative Assembly, composed of the House of Representatives and Senate. The building is located in the Puerta de Tierra sector of San Juan. The Capitol is also commonly referred to as the Palace of Laws (Spanish: Palacio de las Leyes). As you can see right behind the Capitol Building is the Port of San Juan. The "Port of San Juan" is the general name used to call various passenger and cargo facilities located in lands around the San Juan Bay (Bahía de San Juan). The port is composed of a total of sixteen piers, of which eight are used for passenger ships and eight for cargo ships. The port's facilities, in addition to, Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport and the Cataño Ferry "Lancha de Cataño" services, are property of the Puerto Rico Ports Authority. The bay and its docks are located along San Antonio Canal, a narrow navigable section of San Juan Bay lying south of Old San Juan and San Juan island, and north and west of the Puerto Rico Convention Center District and Isla Grande Airport. The municipalities of Cataño, Guaynabo and San Juan compose the south side of the bay and port. For more information click here. It was designed by Joaquín Gisbert and constructed by Adrián Duffaut over the promontory known as Punta Tuna or Punta de la Tuna, at the southeastern tip of the island. The building measures 91 feet long by 41 feet wide and was originally painted white with dark-gray details. Its twin was the first Aguadilla lighthouse, from which it only differed by its color and by the shape of the tower’s cornice. The tower is octagonal, 43-feet tall, and placed at the center of the building. For more info on the Maunabo Lighthouse go here. Maunabo Lighthouse |
