Portland Head Lighthouse, at the entrance to Portland Harbor in Maine, has a history that reads like a Who’s Who from the early years of the nation. It was the first lighthouse completed by the United States government, and is the most visited, painted, and photographed lighthouse in New England. Enjoy!!! Hamilton's Pond was created in the early 1900's when that portion of Stony Brook was dammed for agricultural purposes. That area of the brook now flooded back was once clear, cold, and springy, holding brook trout. The pond is very shallow and choked with submergent and emergent aquatic vegetation and tree stumps, making good warm water species habitat. The pond is located on Mount Desert Island, alongside Route 3, opposite the village of Salsbury Cove. There is a carry-in launch site for small boats off the Crooked Road causeway and the launch is also a popular site bank fishermen. Enjoy!!! Hamilton Pond at SundownFor this one I was trying to reach the top of Cadillac Mountain to photograph the sunset. I quickly noticed that everybody was heading that way also so I decided to follow the light and parked the car on the side of Park Loop Road and walked to this spot. Not sure of the name but I was there alone so I had this wonderful view just for me. Enjoy!!! Autumn Sunset-AcadiaSometimes you just have to "get low" in order to get the shot you want. For this one I did just that, got into the water and composed one shot I think is great. Look at the behind the scenes picture to see what it took to make this shot. Enjoy!!! Silky TracesThe community of Jurutungo is found deep in the central section of barrio Anón. Jurutungo is a Puerto Rican word that means "a place very, very far away, which is hard or tiresome to get to" However, it is not known if the populated place in Barrio Anón was named after the meaning of the word, or if the word developed as a result of how far away the community in barrio Anón is located. Enjoy!!! Jurutungo |
